Ford Touch Up Paint - Guaranteed Exact OEM Color Match
Scratched your Ford? You are in the right place. PaintScratch custom-mixes Ford touch up paint to your exact factory color, so a rock chip or a door ding blends in instead of standing out. Every order is matched to your Ford paint code and mixed to order, never pulled off a generic shelf.
Pick the format that fits the damage. A paint pen handles small stone chips and fine scratches, a brush bottle covers slightly larger nicks, and a spray can blends bigger areas and full panels. Whatever you choose, the color is mixed to the same OEM standard the factory used, with basecoat, clearcoat and primer available when the repair calls for them. More than 6,300 reviews at 4.6 stars stand behind the match.
Which Ford touch up paint do I need?
Not sure which product to order? Match the size of the damage to the right format. When in doubt, size up: it is easier to use a little extra paint than to run short halfway through a repair.
| Damage on your Ford | Best product |
|---|---|
| Rock chips and fine scratches | Touch Up Paint Pen |
| Small chips and short scratches | Touch Up Paint Bottle (2 oz brush) |
| Larger scratches, clustered chips, a small panel | Spray Can |
| Full panel or complete respray | Professional sizes: pint, quart, gallon |
| Metallic, pearl or tricoat colors | Add the matching midcoat (tricoat pen, bottle or can) |

How to Apply Ford Touch Up Paint
A good Ford touch up repair is mostly prep. Take your time. Here is the order that gives you a clean, factory-look finish.
- Clean and dry the spot. Wash off dirt, wax and grease so the paint bonds properly.
- Confirm your color. Check the Ford paint code on the driver door jamb against the color you ordered.
- Prime bare metal. If the chip goes down to metal, lay a thin coat of primer first.
- Build the basecoat in thin layers. Wait 10 to 15 minutes between coats so the paint sets without running.
- Add midcoat and clearcoat where needed. Metallic, pearl and tricoat colors need the midcoat, then seal everything with clearcoat.
- Let it cure, then polish. Once dry, a light polish blends the repair into the surrounding paint.

About Ford Paint
Ford's own factory touch up paint is sold under the Motorcraft name. Our custom-mixed colors are matched to that same OEM standard, so you get a Motorcraft-equivalent match without hunting down a dealer part number. Modern Fords use a tough clearcoat that keeps the color glossy and scratch-resistant for years, while older classics like a 1960s Mustang wear a softer paint that polishes easily but needs a gentler touch. If your paint has faded in the sun, polish the area first so the fresh color blends into the panel.
