Your Paint Color Profile

US/JUS - Blazing Saddle Pearl

The Look

You likely see this deep, rugged earth tone on a Wrangler or Grand Cherokee and think of high-end leather gear. It was a bold departure from the typical grayscale of the 2010s, giving models like the Liberty a sophisticated, outdoorsy presence that actually fits the brand. Since your vehicle has been on the road since at least 2019, the original finish has likely developed a warm, coppery glow that stands out when the sun hits it directly. It is a mature choice for an owner who wants their Jeep to look like it belongs in the mountains rather than a mall parking lot.

Technical Details

This is a complex pearl finish, which means it relies on specialized mica particles to create depth. Because it is such a dark, rich shade, it is very sensitive to how much paint you apply at once. If you go too heavy, those pearl particles will clump together and create dark, muddy patches that look like shadows on your door or fender. You want to apply light, even layers to ensure the copper flakes stay distributed. This color is also a magnet for visible scratches, so take your time with the prep work before you start dabbing or spraying.

Best Practices

Pop open your driver's side door and check the VIN sticker on the jamb to confirm you are working with Jeep Blazing Saddle Pearl (look for code US/JUS). Those heavy pearl particles love to settle at the bottom of the container, so you need to shake it vigorously for a full two minutes before you begin. Always test the color on the included card to check the shade against your actual vehicle, as years of sun exposure can change how the paint looks. When you start, keep the container moving to avoid puddles and give the surface plenty of drying time between each thin coat.

How to Find Your Jeep's Color Code

Jeep codes are difficult to find. In the good old days, they hid them on top of the radiator support, under engine grease and oil. Later models put them on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: BS/GBS; only BS is the color code (also QBS, PBS, TBS, etc.). The first letter is a "Year Code". BS corresponds to Deep Water Blue Pearl Clearcoat; the G in GBS is not part of the color code. Lately, Jeep lists just BS.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
