Your Paint Color Profile

CC-1 (1964) - Wedgewood

The Look

This color is the definition of mid-century sophistication. It appeared across the entire 1964 lineup, from the massive Imperial to the muscular 300K. Because your car has been out in the elements for decades, this soft blue has likely taken on a character of its own. It is a peaceful, airy shade that makes these heavy cruisers look lighter and more agile than they actually are. It is not an aggressive color, but it carries a quiet confidence that fits the 1960s aesthetic perfectly.

Technical Details

Unlike many of the shimmering "Poly" options from that year, this is a solid finish. This is good news for your repair because you do not have to worry about metallic flakes settling unevenly or creating dark spots. However, solid light blues are honest. They will show you every ripple in your sanding work or any patch of dark primer that you did not cover properly. Make sure your surface is uniform in color before you start, or the final result might look slightly different when you pull the car out of the garage.

Best Practices

Before you spray or dab Chrysler Wedgewood (check for code CC-1 (1964)), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. You will find your paint code stamped on the metal fender tag, which is typically located on the driver-side inner fender or the radiator support under the hood. To get the best results, test the color on the included card first to see how it matches your aged finish. When applying, keep the container moving to ensure the flow stays even across the repair area. Once you finish a layer, give it plenty of drying time before deciding if you need another pass.

ensuring the right match

How to Find Your Chrysler's Color Code

Chrysler paint codes can be difficult to find. In the good old days, they were on top of the radiator support, often hidden under engine grease and oil. Later models put them on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: BS/GBS, but only BS is the color code; it can also appear as QBS, PBS, TBS, etc., with the first letter as a confusing "Year Code." BS corresponds to Deep Water Blue Pearl Clearcoat; the G in GBS is not part of the color code.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
