What is a tricoat finish?
Tricoat
Any paint listed on our site with the word Tricoat in the paint name, i.e. White Pearl Tricoat is a tricoat paint consisting of a basecoat (the main color) and a midcoat (a tinted transparent coating which changes the look of the basecoat).
When your color is a tricoat, our order form will only let you order the basecoat and midcoat together as both paint layers are needed to match. The paint will come in two separate containers. Tricoat paints need a clearcoat over the midcoat to make them shine.
Thoughts on Tricoats
Tricoat paints are more difficult than a basecoat paint due to the two layers of paint. You may want to buy the paint from us, then consult with a detail professional to actually do the repair.
