Find Your Mitsubishi Truck Paint Code

Mitsubishi paint codes are on a tag in the firewall area of the car, not on an exterior panel. The color code sits at the bottom mid-left part of that tag. Codes include letters, dashes, and numbers. The code R71 corresponds to Passion Red Clearcoat. R71 may be called Passion Red Clearcoat on some models. R71 may be called Red Clearcoat or Speed Red Clearcoat on others. Model marketing names can vary even for the same code.

The Color Breakdown

Mitsubishi didn't just pick colors for their trucks; they seemingly went on a world tour. With 62 colors recorded, the palette ranges from the sophisticated Valencia Gold Metallic and Canadian Green Metallic to the more localized Serbia Black and Barcelona Beige Metallic. They really went for it with the naming-if there was a city with a vibe, Mitsubishi probably named a shade of silver after it. Whether you're driving a Kaiser Silver workhorse or a New Safari Red weekend warrior, there is a lot of personality packed into these finishes.

What to Watch For

While these trucks are built to handle the mud, their clear coats aren't always as tough as the suspension. If you have a metallic or pearl finish, you might notice the paint on the hood or roof starting to look a bit "chalky" or dull. This is usually just the sun being a bully. You'll also want to keep a close eye on the door handles and the edges of the bed; those are the high-traffic zones where chips love to hide.

To find your specific color match, pop the hood. Mitsubishi usually hides the paint code on a small metal plate bolted to the firewall (the back of the engine bay) or tucked on the outer edge near the passenger-side headlamp. It's usually a three-character code-look for that before you start dabbing.

Driveway Repair Tip

Since so many Mitsubishi colors-like Medium Gray Pearl or Caspian Blue Metallic-rely on those tiny sparkly flakes to look good, your best friend is a stopwatch. Shake your touch-up bottle or spray can for a full 60 seconds after the mixing ball starts rattling. This wakes up the metallic particles so they don't all clump at the bottom of the bottle.

When applying, remember that "less is more." Use the tip of your brush to apply thin, whisper-light layers rather than one big "blob" of paint. Some of the deeper pearls might look a little off on the first coat, but don't worry-getting a perfect look requires patience and a few thin layers rather than a single heavy application.
