What to Watch For

The Montero is a beast off-road, but its skin can be a little sensitive to the sun. The most common "war wounds" you'll find are on the horizontal surfaces-the hood and that expansive roof. The clear coat on older Mitsubishis has a tendency to get a bit tired and start flaking away, while classic shades like Phoenix Red can fade into a lighter pinkish-orange if they've spent too much time in the desert. To find your specific color DNA, pop the hood and look at the firewall (the metal wall at the back of the engine bay) or the radiator support near the latch. You're looking for a three-digit code, often sitting right next to the "COLOR" heading on a silver or black plate.

Driveway Repair Tip
