Your Paint Color Profile

PW1 - Stone White

The Look

If you own a Wrangler or a Cherokee from the late nineties or early aughts, you are likely intimately familiar with this shade. It served as the factory canvas for a decade of trail rides and daily commutes. This is a punchy, crisp white that looks best when it is reflecting the sun off a clean hood. Because your Jeep has likely spent years out in the elements, the original finish might have yellowed or faded slightly compared to what is in your hand right now. It is a no-nonsense color for a no-nonsense vehicle.

Technical Details

This is a solid finish, which is the best news you could get for a project in your garage. There are no metallic flakes or pearl powders to worry about, meaning you do not have to stress about particles settling unevenly or creating dark stripes. The challenge with a solid white is its honesty. It shows every bit of road grime and every imperfection in your preparation. Since it lacks the shimmer of a metallic, your surface needs to be smooth before you begin.

Best Practices

Before you spray or dab Jeep Stone White (check for code PW1), you need to shake the container for at least sixty seconds. You can usually find your paint code on a sticker inside the driver's side door jamb, though on some older models, it might be on a metal plate under the hood near the radiator support. Always test the color on the included card to see how it matches your weathered exterior. When you start, keep the container moving to avoid heavy buildup and give it plenty of drying time between light layers to prevent runs.

How to Find Your Jeep's Color Code

Jeep codes are difficult to find. In the good old days, they hid them on top of the radiator support, under engine grease and oil. Later models put them on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: BS/GBS; only BS is the color code (also QBS, PBS, TBS, etc.). The first letter is a "Year Code". BS corresponds to Deep Water Blue Pearl Clearcoat; the G in GBS is not part of the color code. Lately, Jeep lists just BS.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
