Honda Prelude Touch Up Paint (79 OEM Colors)

The Color Breakdown

Honda didn't just release a car with the Prelude; they released a rolling mood ring. With 74 total colors recorded over its lifespan, they really went for it. You've got everything from the legendary Electron Blue Pearl-which basically defined the late '90s-to the sophisticated Ficus Green Pearl and the moody Cassis Red Pearl. Whether your Prelude is dressed in a classic Taffeta White or the rare Longleet Gold Metallic, it's clear the designers wanted these cars to pop under streetlights. It's a bold palette that perfectly matches the "sport-compact" soul of the car.

What to Watch For

Before you pop that cap, we need to talk about "Honda-itis." Many Preludes of this era struggle with clear coat peeling, particularly on the roof, hood, and trunk. If your Milano Red is looking more like "Milano Pink," don't worry-it just means the sun has been a bit too friendly with the pigment. You can find your specific paint code on a sticker located on the driver's side door jamb. It'll be a mix of letters and numbers (like NH-592P). If it's not there, check the firewall in the engine bay. These spots are the common wear zones, but they are totally manageable for a driveway weekend warrior.

Driveway Repair Tip

Since so many Prelude colors are high-sparkle Pearls or Metallics, your biggest challenge isn't the color-it's the gravity. Those tiny metallic flakes like to settle at the bottom of the bottle. **Shake your touch-up bottle for a full two minutes** (yes, set a timer) to wake up those sparkles. When you apply it, think "thin and patient." Instead of one big blob that stands out like a sore thumb, use the tip of your brush to dab on two or three light layers. This keeps the metallic flakes sitting flat so they catch the light just right, making your repair look like part of the original finish rather than a DIY afterthought.
