The Look

It was the lead color for the launch edition of the A90 generation, specifically chosen to highlight those deep door scallops and aggressive rear haunches. Unlike the flatter whites found on a standard sedan, this finish has a clinical, cold brightness that makes the car look like it was machined from a single block of ice. It provides a sharp contrast against carbon fiber accents and those signature red mirror caps if you are driving a Launch Edition model.

Technical Details

This finish is a pearl tricoat, which is the most common trap for a weekend repair. Because the depth comes from a semi-transparent middle layer of pearl, the final shade depends entirely on how many layers you apply. If you go too heavy with the pearl, the spot will look yellow or dark compared to the rest of the fender. If you go too light, the shimmer won't catch the light at the same angle as the factory finish. White pearls are also prone to showing a dark ring or halo around the repair if you do not blend your edges into the surrounding area.

Best Practices

Before you spray or dab Toyota Absolute Zero Tricoat (check for code D01), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. You can verify your code on the black manufacturer sticker located on the driver's side door jamb. When you are ready to work, find a spot in the garage or the shade to keep the surface cool. Test the color on the included card first to see how the pearl builds with each pass. Apply your layers thin, give each one plenty of drying time, and always keep the container moving to prevent the pearl flakes from bunching up in one spot.
