What to Watch For

While these trucks are built like tanks, the paint can sometimes be a little more... sensitive. If you're rocking Blizzard Pearl or Super White, keep a close eye on the edges of your hood and fenders; these shades have a bit of a reputation for wanting to flake off in the sun. Also, older Cruisers that have spent a decade in the desert might see the clear coat get a bit tired and dull on the roof. To find your specific battle-code, open the driver's door and look at the jamb or the center pillar for a sticker with "C/TR" followed by three digits (like 040 or 1G3).

Shake your touch-up pen or bottle for a full 60 seconds-longer than you think you need to-to wake up that metallic glitter. When you apply it to a chip, don't try to fill the whole crater in one go. Dabbing on two or three "whisper-thin" layers will give you a much smoother finish than one big, gloppy mountain of paint.
