Your Paint Color Profile

F4T - Cypress Green Pearl

The Look

Your Outback or Legacy was built for the woods, and this color is the proof. This isn't a bright, neon green that screams for attention. It is a deep, organic tone that looks right at home at a trailhead or a muddy campsite. Since your Subaru has likely been on the road for over a decade, the original finish might have muted slightly from the sun. This shade does a decent job of hiding road salt and light dust, but it needs that specific shimmer to really look its best.

Technical Details

This is a pearl finish, which makes it more complex than a standard flat green. It relies on tiny mica flakes to catch the light and create a sense of depth. If you apply the paint too heavy in one spot, those flakes will bunch up and create a dark, muddy patch. You want to build the color in thin, even layers. This ensures the particles lay flat and reflect light uniformly. If you rush the process, you lose the shimmering effect that defines the factory look.

Best Practices

Before you spray or dab Subaru Cypress Green Pearl (check for code F4T), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. You can find your paint code on the silver plate located on the passenger side front strut tower under the hood or along the passenger side door pillar. Since the pearl flakes are heavier than the paint, they settle at the bottom of the container and require thorough mixing to match your car. Test the color on the included card before you touch the vehicle. When you start, keep the container moving to avoid puddles. Give the paint plenty of drying time between layers so the finish stays crisp and clear.

ensuring the right match

How to Find Your Subaru's Color Code

The color plate may be on top of the drivers side strut; in recent years it is in the driver or passenger side door jambs. Typical Subaru paint codes are three digits long and composed of numbers and letters. For two tone cars a code like "3M6" appears: "Two Tone Color Combination 3M6 Atlantic Blue Pearl 33A Granite Gray Opal Clearcoat 35S". The color code matters since the same paint can have different names across models.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
