Your Paint Color Profile

B51 - Blue Metallic

The Look

Nissan found a winner with this shade, keeping it in the lineup for nearly two decades. It is the definitive high-energy look for the Juke and the Kicks, though it looks just as sharp on the more conservative Sentra or Versa. Because your car might have been on the road for quite some time, the finish has likely seen its fair share of sun and road debris. This specific blue is vibrant and saturated, designed to catch the light and emphasize the sharp body lines of your vehicle.

Technical Details

This is a complex metallic finish. While it gives the car a deep, electric glow, it requires a bit of finesse to get right. Metallic paints are prone to mottling, which is when the tiny metal flakes bunch together and create dark, blotchy patches or stripes. This usually happens if the paint is applied too thick or too fast. To get a factory-quality finish, you have to be patient and use multiple light layers rather than one heavy coat.

Best Practices

You will find your paint code on the driver-side door jamb, typically on a black or silver sticker located near the door latch. Before you spray or dab Nissan Blue Metallic (check for code B51), you need to shake it for a full 60 seconds. Those metallic flakes are heavy and settle at the bottom of the container almost immediately. Test the color on the included card to make sure the flake density looks right before you touch the car. Keep the container moving at all times to ensure an even flow and allow for plenty of drying time between each layer to prevent the paint from sagging.

How to Find Your Nissan's Color Code

Nissan paint color codes are on the driver's door jamb. Some labels are low on the jamb and require bending to read. The color label may be small. Codes are typically three characters long using letters and numbers; sometimes a space and a fourth character follow. The same code can have different marketing names across models. AX6 corresponds to Redline Clearcoat; AX6 may also be called Red Clearcoat or High Performance Clearcoat. Nissan North America phone number is 1-800-647-7261.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
