Your Paint Color Profile

M11 - Sunshine Orange Pearl

The Look

You didn't buy a grey car, and you certainly aren't fixing a grey car today. This finish turned the 2020-2023 Outlander into a high-visibility statement on the road. It is a loud, high-energy orange that feels at home in the sun. Because it is so bright, it shows every single rock chip like a neon sign, but when the repair is done right, it catches the light with a depth that standard colors just can't touch.

Technical Details

This is a pearl finish, not a basic flat paint. That means it is packed with mica flakes that shift and shimmer depending on where you stand. The danger here is the "pooling" effect. If you apply the paint too heavily in one spot, those mica flakes sink and bunch up, creating a dark, muddy-looking patch instead of a bright glow. You have to build the color in thin, patient layers to keep the flakes standing up properly. Rushing the process will lead to mottling, which makes your repair look like a smudge rather than a finish.

Best Practices

Your paint code is usually found on the firewall under the hood or on the driver's side center pillar near the door latch. Before you spray or dab Mitsubishi Sunshine Orange Pearl (check for code M11), you need to shake it for a full 60 seconds. The pearl and metallic bits like to sit at the bottom, and if they aren't mixed, the color will look dull. Test the color on the included card to check the flow. Whether you are using a pen, brush, or nozzle, keep the container moving to avoid drips. Work in a shaded garage and give each layer enough drying time so the next layer lays down smoothly over the last.

ensuring the right match

How to Find Your Mitsubishi's Color Code

Mitsubishi paint codes are on a tag in the firewall area of the car, not on an exterior panel. The color code sits at the bottom mid-left part of that tag. Codes include letters, dashes, and numbers. The code R71 corresponds to Passion Red Clearcoat. R71 may be called Passion Red Clearcoat on some models. R71 may be called Red Clearcoat or Speed Red Clearcoat on others. Model marketing names can vary even for the same code.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
