Jeep took a page from the muscle car playbook when they brought this spicy, burnt-orange hue to the 2024 Compass. It is a bold departure from the sea of gray SUVs in the parking lot. Since your car is new, the paint has not suffered from the oxidation or fading that ruins older finishes. Your repair should blend in if you respect the depth of this pigment.

Technical Details

This finish is a pearl metallic. Tiny flakes suspended in the liquid give the car a glow under direct sunlight. These flakes are heavy and sink to the bottom of the container. If you do not mix them, your repair will look like a flat, muddy brown instead of a bright orange. The way those flakes lay dictates the final shade. Excess liquid in one spot causes the metal to clump, making the touch-up appear darker than the rest of the panel.

Best Practices

Before you spray or dab Jeep Sinamon Stick (check for code VEC), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. You should hear the mixing ball rattling to ensure the pearl is distributed. Open your driver's side door and look at the jamb; you will find your code on the VIN sticker. Test the color on the included card to see how the metallic flake reacts to your hand. Keep the container moving in steady passes to avoid puddles. Use light, thin layers. Let each layer reach a full drying time before adding the next. Heavy coats trap the metal flakes and ruin the match.

Jeep codes are difficult to find. In the good old days, they hid them on top of the radiator support, under engine grease and oil. Later models put them on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: BS/GBS; only BS is the color code (also QBS, PBS, TBS, etc.). The first letter is a "Year Code". BS corresponds to Deep Water Blue Pearl Clearcoat; the G in GBS is not part of the color code. Lately, Jeep lists just BS.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can.
