Your Paint Color Profile

Island Green Metallic 41460 - Green

The Look

This is not your grandfather's olive drab. Appearing briefly in 1954 across the Willys lineup, this shade represents the pivot from military utility to civilian adventure. It has a distinct blue-green undertone that feels more at home on a lakeside trail than a base camp. Since your Jeep has likely been on the road for seven decades, expect the original finish to have a deeper, more weathered character than a fresh dab of paint. It is a rare piece of 1950s history that gives the CJ-3B and Willys wagons a sophisticated, mid-century personality.

Technical Details

You are dealing with a metallic finish, which means the paint is packed with tiny flakes that reflect light. The biggest risk here is mottling-those annoying dark and light stripes that happen when the flakes bunch up. If you are too heavy-handed, the metallic particles will sink and create a cloudy look. This is why maintaining a steady flow and consistent spray distance is vital. You want those flakes to lay flat and even so the color looks the same from every angle in the garage or under the sun.

Best Practices

Before you spray or dab Jeep Green (check for code Island Green Metallic 41460), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. On these vintage models, you can usually find the paint code stamped on the metal data plate located on the firewall under the hood or occasionally inside the glove box door. Always test the color on the included card before touching your vehicle to ensure the metallic density matches your existing finish. When applying, keep the container moving to prevent the paint from pooling. Give each layer enough drying time so the metallic particles can set correctly without shifting.

How to Find Your Jeep's Color Code

Jeep codes are difficult to find. In the good old days, they hid them on top of the radiator support, under engine grease and oil. Later models put them on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: BS/GBS; only BS is the color code (also QBS, PBS, TBS, etc.). The first letter is a "Year Code". BS corresponds to Deep Water Blue Pearl Clearcoat; the G in GBS is not part of the color code. Lately, Jeep lists just BS.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
