Your Paint Color Profile

FE - Forrest Green

The Look

This green is a true time capsule from 1976, arriving the same year Jeep launched the iconic CJ-7. It is a deep, organic tone that helped bridge the gap between military utility and the modern adventure era. Since your Jeep has likely spent the last few decades navigating trails or baking in the sun, the original finish has probably shifted into a unique character of its own. This shade is honest and utilitarian, providing a rugged, woodland presence that looks best when parked in a forest or a muddy field.

Technical Details

This is a solid finish with no metallic flakes or pearls. While this makes it easier to match the color without worrying about how the flakes sit, it also means your surface preparation is the most important part of the job. Dark solid colors are unforgiving and will highlight every ripple or scratch in the metal. It covers the surface well, but you must be careful not to apply it too thick in one pass. Thin, even layers are the key to a professional result that won't sag or run.

Best Practices

You can usually find your paint tag riveted to the firewall below the brake master cylinder or inside the driver's side door jamb. Before you spray or dab Jeep Forrest Green (check for code FE), you need to shake it for 60 seconds to ensure the heavy green pigments are fully suspended. Test the color on the included card to see how it looks against your specific vehicle before you begin. Keep the container moving at a steady pace to prevent pooling and work in a garage or a patch of shade to keep the surface cool. Give each layer plenty of drying time so the finish can settle and bond properly to the steel.

How to Find Your Jeep's Color Code

Jeep codes are difficult to find. In the good old days, they hid them on top of the radiator support, under engine grease and oil. Later models put them on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: BS/GBS; only BS is the color code (also QBS, PBS, TBS, etc.). The first letter is a "Year Code". BS corresponds to Deep Water Blue Pearl Clearcoat; the G in GBS is not part of the color code. Lately, Jeep lists just BS.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
