Your Paint Color Profile

860/MDS 1860/MDV - Seafrost Pearl

The Look

Seafrost Pearl is a chameleon. It is not quite green and not quite silver, but a soft, aquatic hue that defined the peak of the X308 and XK8 era. Since your Jaguar has been on the road for over two decades, you have likely noticed how this color shifts from a pale mint to a crisp, metallic frost depending on the afternoon sun. It is a sophisticated choice that makes these heavy cruisers look lighter and more athletic without the aggression of a darker racing green.

Technical Details

This is a complex pearl finish, which means it carries more depth than a standard metallic. Those tiny mica flakes inside the liquid reflect light at different angles. The risk here is mottling, which looks like dark clouds or tiger stripes in the finish. This happens when the pearl particles settle unevenly. To prevent this, you must avoid heavy, wet coats. If the paint goes on too thick, the pearls will sink and clump, ruining that crisp Jaguar elegance.

Best Practices

You will find your color information on the VIN plate, typically located on the driver's side door jamb or under the bonnet on the radiator crossmember. Before you spray or dab Jaguar Seafrost Pearl (check for code 860/MDS 1860/MDV), you need to shake the container for a full two minutes. Those heavy pearl particles love to sit at the bottom, and if they aren't mixed, the color will look too translucent. Always test the color on the included card first to see how it matches your car's current age. Work in the shade, keep the container moving, and allow plenty of drying time between thin layers to build the color properly.

How to Find Your Jaguar's Color Code

Jaguar paint color codes are usually on the drivers door jamb. On older Jaguar models, the color code can be ANYWHERE! Under the hood, in the trunk. Typical format: 1957/HGZ, which corresponds to Jaguar Racing Green Pearl. Some Jaguars will have the 1957 code but most will only show the HGZ code. Same color across models may have different names: Racing Clearcoat, Green Performance Clearcoat, etc. It's the same paint!

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
