BG-59M - Cool Turquoise Metallic

The Look

This is the color that gave the Honda Fit its personality during the early 2010s. It is a high-energy, cheerful shade that sits somewhere between a tropical lagoon and a bright piece of tech. Since your Fit was likely a daily commuter or a city runabout, it has probably picked up its fair share of battle scars from highway gravel and tight parking spots. While this color is fantastic at hiding a light layer of road dust, those deep chips stand out because the bright base contrast so sharply against the dark primer underneath.

Technical Details

This is a true metallic finish, packed with fine silver flakes that give the paint its shimmer. The challenge with Honda Cool Turquoise Metallic is that these flakes are heavy; if they are not suspended perfectly in the clear binder, they will sink to the bottom of the scratch. This creates a "mottled" effect where the repair looks darker or muddier than the rest of the door. To keep that BG-59M looking factory-fresh, you have to avoid the temptation to put on one thick coat. Thick coats drown the flakes and kill the sparkle.

Best Practices

You will find your paint code printed on a sticker located on the driver's side door jamb. Before you start, you must shake your container for at least 60 seconds to wake up those settled metallic particles. Always test the color on the included card to see how the flakes lay down before you touch the car. When applying, keep the container moving and use two or three thin layers rather than one heavy one. Let each layer sit for about 10 to 15 minutes of drying time in the garage or a bit of shade. If you are using a clear coat, wait at least 30 minutes after your final color layer so you don't smear the turquoise into the clear.

How to Find Your Honda's Color Code

Honda Color Codes are usually found on the Color ID Tag in the driver-side door jamb. It is typically a rectangular label, and the Color Code is usually 2 letters plus 3 digits with a suffix letter, such as NH731P, B92P, YR525M, or NH603P-1. Some Hondas also require the Factory Code for the closest match; check the Color ID Tag for a suffix like -1, -3, -4, or -15, or use the 11th digit of the VIN visible through the windshield on the driver-side dashboard.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can.
