Your Paint Color Profile

SS-1 (1967) - Ivory

The Look

This is not just a basic white; it is a warm, tailored cream that defined the upscale 1967 Chrysler lineup. Whether it is on a massive Imperial or one of the other full-sized models, this color carries a certain mid-century dignity. Be aware that because this is a solid off-white, it acts as a magnet for road grime and iron fallout. You will notice every speck of dust on it, but when it is clean, it looks far deeper and more expensive than a modern refrigerator white.

Technical Details

This is a solid finish, which is a blessing for anyone using a touch-up tool. You do not have to worry about metallic flakes settling in patches or creating dark spots. The main challenge is the age of the vehicle. Since your car has been on the road for decades, the original paint has probably yellowed or faded. This means your new paint might look a bit brighter than the rest of the body at first. Because it is a light color, it can be thin, so you may need a few layers to hide any dark primer or scratches.

Best Practices

You can find your paint code on the metal fender tag located on the driver-side inner fender under the hood. Look for the row marked PNT to verify your information. Before you spray or dab Chrysler Ivory (check for code SS-1 (1967)), you need to shake the container for at least a full minute to mix the pigments. Always test the color on the included card before touching the car to see how the hue compares to your weathered finish. When applying, keep the container moving to avoid heavy build-up and wait for a full drying time between each layer in the garage or shade.

ensuring the right match

Find your Chrysler paint code

Chrysler paint codes can be difficult to find. In the good old days, they were on top of the radiator support, often hidden under engine grease and oil. Later models put them on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: BS/GBS, but only BS is the color code; it can also appear as QBS, PBS, TBS, etc., with the first letter as a confusing "Year Code." BS corresponds to Deep Water Blue Pearl Clearcoat; the G in GBS is not part of the color code.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
