Your Paint Color Profile

GG-1 (1960) - Cedar Green Poly

The Look

This color represents the peak of 1960s luxury. When you see a massive Imperial wearing this shade, you realize it was designed to look expensive under city streetlights. It is a deep, forest-toned green that carries a heavy dose of mid-century sophistication. Because your Imperial has been around for over sixty years, the original finish has likely deepened or shifted slightly. This isn't just a basic green; it is a statement of status from an era when chrome was king and tailfins were reaching their limit.

Technical Details

The "Poly" in the name is short for polychromatic, which means you are working with a metallic finish. These fine metallic flakes are what give the paint its depth, but they also make your repair a bit more tactical. If you apply the paint too heavily in one spot, the flakes will sink and cause the area to look darker than the surrounding panel. You want to build the color in thin, even layers to ensure those tiny particles sit correctly. This prevents the "tiger stripe" effect that often ruins a good metallic touch-up.

Best Practices

Before you spray or dab Chrysler Cedar Green Poly (check for code GG-1 (1960) on the data plate located on your driver's side door pillar), you need to shake the container for a full two minutes. Those metallic flakes are heavy and love to settle at the bottom. Once mixed, test the color on the included card to ensure the shade matches your current aging finish. Whether you are using a nozzle or a brush, keep the container moving to maintain a consistent flow. Work in the shade to keep the surface cool, and give each layer plenty of drying time before deciding if you need more coverage.

How to Find Your Chrysler's Color Code

Chrysler paint codes can be difficult to find. In the good old days, they were on top of the radiator support, often hidden under engine grease and oil. Later models put them on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: BS/GBS, but only BS is the color code; it can also appear as QBS, PBS, TBS, etc., with the first letter as a confusing "Year Code." BS corresponds to Deep Water Blue Pearl Clearcoat; the G in GBS is not part of the color code.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
