1968 Mercury All Models Touch Up Paint (21 OEM Colors)

Use the paint code from the Mercury All Models label and match it to the color page before ordering. The model page narrows the list, but the paint code decides the match.

For the Mercury All Models, start with the make-specific code guidance: Mercury places the paint color code on the drivers door jamb. On the color plate, the code appears near EX PT (Exterior Paint), typically above or below; sometimes the actual color is embossed on the plate and not where expected. The typical format is WT/M6640, but the M6640 part is rarely used and often only WT appears. WT corresponds to Performance White Clearcoat. Pre 1970 Mercurys can be problematic due to same-name, different-color issues and different codes. If the label is missing, ask a dealer parts department for a VIN lookup before ordering paint.

The paint code is safer than the color name. Similar names can appear on different years, models, or makes.

Use the paint code guide, check other label locations, or ask a dealer to look up the code by VIN before ordering.

Yes. Body paint, trim paint, wheel paint, textured parts, and special finishes can use different materials or codes for Mercury All Models. Match the exterior paint code for body-color repairs, and verify a separate finish before ordering paint for trim, wheels, or unpainted parts.

For Mercury All Models repair, use a pen for tiny chips, a bottle for small chips or short scratches, a spray can for larger areas that can be masked, and PRO sizes for panel or spray-gun work. Choose a kit when the repair also needs primer, clearcoat, sanding, or polishing supplies.
