The Look

This is the flagship red for the current generation of the Aviator and Nautilus. It is a deep, sophisticated hue that moves away from bright cherry tones and toward a rich, wine-like burgundy. On a large vehicle like your Navigator, the color has a physical weight to it, shifting from a dark ember in the shade to a brilliant, glowing crimson under direct sunlight. Because your Lincoln is likely a 2025 or 2026 model, the factory finish is still in its prime, which makes even a small stone chip feel like a major distraction from that deep, liquid-metal appearance.

Technical Details

You are dealing with a pearl tricoat. This means the finish is built in stages: a solid grounding color followed by a translucent layer of metallic flake. This structure creates the three-dimensional depth you see on your fenders. The challenge with this finish is light refraction. If the metallic flakes aren't distributed evenly, the repair can look darker or "mottled" compared to the rest of the panel. Since the light needs to bounce off those flakes at the same angle as the factory paint, the thickness of your application determines how well the repair disappears into the surrounding surface.

Best Practices

Find your paint code on the silver compliance sticker inside the driver's side door jamb, listed directly next to the "EXT PNT" text. Before you spray or dab Lincoln Diamond Red Tricoat (check for code C9), you need to shake the container for at least a full minute. The heavy pearl pigments settle at the bottom and must be fully suspended to get a match. Work in a cool Garage or in the Shade to prevent the paint from drying too fast. Always test the color on the included card first. This allows you to see how many layers of the mid-coat are required to match the exact depth of your vehicle's specific finish. Keep the container moving with steady, light passes to avoid building up too much pigment in one spot, and allow for plenty of Drying time between each thin layer.

How to Find Your Lincoln's Color Code

Lincoln color codes are always on the drivers door jamb. On the color plate, EX PT (for Exterior Paint) appears, with the paint code located above or below; sometimes the actual color is embossed on the plate and not where expected. Typical format: WT/M6640, though M6640 is rarely shown and typically only WT appears. WT corresponds to Performance White Clearcoat. Pre 1970 Lincolns can be problematic due to same names with different codes.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can.
