Lexus really leaned into the "luxury terrain" aesthetic for the LX470, recording a staggering 49 colors. While they mostly stuck to what I call the "Executive Palette"-a sophisticated range of White Pearl Tri-coat, Black Onyx, and Gray Mica Pearl Metallic-they did occasionally let their hair down with shades like Autumn Blaze Metallic. With names like Sand Dollar Pearl and Eucalyptus Pearl, it's clear Lexus wanted you to feel like you were driving a high-end spa through the mud.

What to Watch For

The LX470 is built like a tank, but even tanks get sunburned. Because these vehicles have massive, flat horizontal surfaces, keep a close eye on the roof and that giant hood; the clear coat there can eventually get "flaky" after decades in the sun. If you're hunting for your specific shade, don't play a guessing game with the 50 shades of beige. Open your driver's door and look at the VIN sticker on the jamb-you're looking for the letters "C/TR" (Color/Trim). Your code will be the three-digit combo right after it. Many of these trucks are "Two-Tone," meaning the bumpers and plastic cladding (like Dark Taupe Metallic) have a different code than the metal body. Always double-check which part of the truck you're actually touching up!

Driveway Repair Tip

Since so many Lexus colors are "Pearl" or "Mica" finishes, they contain tiny flakes that like to settle at the bottom of the bottle like sand in a snowglobe. Shake your touch-up bottle for a full 60 seconds-longer than you think you need to-to wake up those sparkles. When applying, avoid the "one big blob" method. Use the tip of your applicator to dab a tiny amount into the center of the chip and let it flow to the edges. If it's a pearl finish, doing two or three very thin layers will give you that deep, factory-rich look much better than one thick coat ever could.
