Restoration Tip

In this era, a rock chip is more than an eyesore-it's an entry point for disaster. Seal your chips immediately. If you see a small nick in the paint, don't wait; air and moisture will crawl under the edge of the clear coat and begin the peeling process. If you're already seeing "halos" or lifting clear, you need to feather those edges down with a fine-grit sandpaper (around 600-800 grit) until the transition is smooth to the touch. Once it's level, hit it with a fresh layer of clear to lock it down. Whatever you do, don't just slap wax over a peeling edge; you're just polishing the tombstone of your factory finish.
