Your Paint Color Profile

831 - Light Topaz Metallic

The Look

Your Isuzu is a survivor. Whether you are touching up a boxy Trooper or a Giugiaro-designed Impulse, this color is a time capsule of 1980s utility. It is a champagne-gold that sits halfway between silver and tan. It hides road dust with ease, which is vital for an old truck, but the metallic flakes make it a bit more interesting than a standard flat beige. Since your vehicle has been on the road for over thirty years, the original finish has likely developed a character of its own, but this shade remains the definitive look for that era of Japanese imports.

Technical Details

This is a metallic finish. It relies on tiny light-reflecting flakes to create depth and shimmer. These particles are heavy and sink to the bottom of the container. If the flakes are not mixed into the liquid, the color will look blotchy or develop dark streaks. Because this is a lighter metallic, the way the light hits those flakes determines the final appearance. You need a uniform layer so the gold highlights look consistent across the panel of your vehicle. If you apply the paint too thick in one spot, the metal bits will bunch up and ruin the effect.

Best Practices

Look for your identification plate on the firewall inside the engine compartment or on a sticker inside the glove box door. Before you spray or dab Isuzu Light Topaz Metallic (check for code 831), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. This ensures the metallic particles are mixed through. Test the color on the included card to verify the shade match before moving to your vehicle. When you apply the paint, keep the container moving and use thin layers. Allow plenty of drying time between each pass to prevent the metallic bits from sagging or clumping together in the shade of your garage.

How to Find Your Isuzu's Color Code

Isuzu can be contacted to determine the color code. If there is no color code, the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number may be requested. Common places to look are on the drivers door jamb, the trunk and under the hood.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
