RNZ - Bronze Effect Metallic

The Look

Your Elantra or I20 was born during a specific era when Hyundai moved away from flat greys and embraced these "liquid earth" tones. This color is a mature, sophisticated bronze that doesn't scream for attention like a bright gold. It is a workhorse shade. Since your car has likely seen a decade of daily commutes, you will find this color is excellent at masking light road dust, but the original finish might have lost some of its depth over the years. A fresh touch-up will bring back that factory warmth and help your car look cared for rather than just used.

Technical Details

This is a metallic finish, which means the paint contains tiny flakes to create that "effect" in the name. Metallic finishes are prone to mottling-a term for when the flakes clump together and create dark, uneven patches. This happens when the paint is applied too heavily or hasn't been mixed enough. Because the metallic particles are heavier than the pigment, they sink to the bottom of your container very quickly. If you don't keep them suspended, the color will look inconsistent and lose its metallic glow.

Best Practices

You can find your paint code on the black sticker located on the driver's side door jamb. Before you apply Hyundai Bronze Effect Metallic (check for code RNZ), you must shake the container for at least sixty seconds to wake up those heavy metallic flakes. Test the color on the included card to ensure the flakes are distributing evenly before you touch the car. When applying, keep the container moving to avoid pooling, as thick spots will make the bronze look muddy and dark. Give the paint plenty of drying time between thin layers to ensure the finish sets correctly.

Hyundai paint codes are normally on the drivers door jamb; some models hide the color code in the engine compartment. Typical format: 3E which corresponds to: Blue Onyx Metallic Clearcoat. Some later Hyundais use a three character code. A paint can be S3; this is actually the same as S3B. Same color code, different name: the same paint may be used across models, e.g., 3E as Blue Onyx Metallic Clearcoat, Blue Clearcoat, or Ocean Blue Clearcoat.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can.
