Your Paint Color Profile

64023 - Light Khaki Metallic

The Look

This is a color that works as hard as the vehicle it covers. Popular across three decades of commercial fleets, it is a sophisticated beige that refuses to look dirty. Because it was a staple for PPG Paints between 1966 and 2000, you will see it on utility vans and delivery trucks that still look professional decades later. It has a warm, earthy tone that carries a subtle shimmer, giving a standard workhorse a bit of hidden depth. Since your vehicle has likely seen years of service, this shade is excellent for blending in with the character of a seasoned finish.

Technical Details

This is a true metallic finish, which means your paint is packed with tiny flakes that catch the light. The biggest risk with a metallic is mottling, which happens when the flakes cluster together and make the color look blotchy or striped. This usually happens if you hold the container too close or apply the paint too thick in one spot. To get a uniform look, you must ensure those flakes are perfectly distributed before they hit the surface. If they sink or clump, the finish will lose that even, golden glow.

Best Practices

You can usually find your paint code on a sticker inside the door jamb or tucked into the glove box. Before you spray or dab Fleet Light Khaki Metallic (check for code 64023), you need to shake it for at least 60 seconds to wake up those metallic particles. Work in your garage or a patch of shade to keep the surface cool. Always test the color on the included card to see how the flakes settle under your specific flow. Keep the container moving at a steady pace and allow plenty of drying time between layers to prevent the paint from sagging or looking uneven.

Find your Fleet paint code

Fleet is the catch all for individual color codes not associated with any brand or make, full of PPG, Axalta, Sherwin Williams, etc. If only a color code for something to be painted is available, the site can be checked; if it cannot be found, they can be notified and they will see if they can make the paint.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
