Your Paint Color Profile

P6235 - Gray

The Look

Your vehicle wears the uniform of a true workhorse. This color defined the industrial landscape for over thirty years, coating everything from service trucks to utility vans. It is a humble, mid-tone shade that prioritizes durability over flash. Because your vehicle has likely spent its life outdoors, this gray is excellent at masking dust and road salt, but it can look tired if the surface loses its luster. It is a functional choice for a vehicle that has a job to do.

Technical Details

This is a solid finish, meaning it lacks the metallic flakes or pearl additives found in modern passenger cars. While this makes the application process more forgiving, it also means there is nothing to hide behind. Solid colors show every ripple and scratch in the bodywork. The good news is that you will not have to worry about the color appearing darker or lighter based on the angle of the light. Since this was used on basecoat models, the final appearance relies entirely on your topcoat to provide the necessary gloss and protection from the sun.

Best Practices

You can usually find your identification sticker on the driver's door pillar or inside the glove box. Before you spray or dab Fleet Gray (check for code P6235), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. This ensures the pigments are fully integrated so the repair does not come out streaky. Test the color on the included card to see how it matches the aged paint on your panels. When you start the repair, keep the container moving to prevent the paint from pooling in one spot. Give the surface plenty of drying time between each thin layer to build a durable finish that stands up to the elements.

Find your Fleet paint code

Fleet is the catch all for individual color codes not associated with any brand or make, full of PPG, Axalta, Sherwin Williams, etc. If only a color code for something to be painted is available, the site can be checked; if it cannot be found, they can be notified and they will see if they can make the paint.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
