How to Find Your Dodge ProMaster's Color Code

Older Dodge paint codes were placed on top of the radiator support, often obscured by engine grease and oil. Later models list them on the drivers door jamb. The typical format is BS/GBS, but only BS is the color code; it can also appear as QBS, PBS, TBS with the first letter as a confusing Year Code. The G in GBS is not part of the color code. BS corresponds to Deep Water Blue Pearl Clearcoat; lately codes are simply listed as BS.

The Color Breakdown

Dodge has recorded a staggering 50 colors for the ProMaster, proving that even a cargo van deserves a bit of personality. While the vast majority of these workhorses live their lives in Bright White or Bright Silver Metallic, the designers clearly had some fun in the lab. They "really went for it" with bold choices like the vibrant Spitfire Orange, the moody Squid Ink, and the surprisingly classy Blue Notturno Pearl. Whether your van is a delivery rig or a "Ceramic Gray" weekend camper, you're working with a palette that's surprisingly deep for a vehicle shaped like a loaf of bread.

What to Watch For

Before you start dabbing, we need to talk about the "Great White Peel." If you own a white ProMaster, you might notice the paint behaving like a bad sunburn on the hood or roof-this is a common delamination issue where the top layer decides to take an early retirement. You'll find your specific 3-digit paint code (look for the "PNT:" header) on the manufacturer's sticker located inside the driver's side door jamb. Keep a close eye on the roof gutters and the area around the windshield; these spots are magnets for tiny chips that can turn into surface rust if left to the elements.

Driveway Repair Tip

Because many ProMaster colors like Granite Crystal or Black Pearl are packed with metallic flakes, the "shake" is your best friend. Most DIYers give the bottle a three-second wiggle and call it a day, but you need to rattle that touch-up pen or bottle for a solid 60 to 90 seconds to wake up those heavy sparkles. When applying, avoid the urge to "fill the hole" in one go. If you apply one giant blob, the center will stay soft and eventually shrink. Instead, use your brush to apply two or three thin, whisper-quiet layers, letting them dry for about 20 minutes in between. Patience is the difference between a repair that vanishes and one that looks like a high-voltage freckle.
