How to Find Your Acura TL's Color Code

Acura paint color codes are always on the drivers door jamb. Many Acuras and Hondas have a factory code which makes a difference in the color. Typical format: NH-583M, which corresponds to NH-583M Vogue Silver Metallic Clearcoat. Acura uses the same color across models but different names, so the color code is important to order the correct paint; names can vary like Silver Clearcoat or Light Silver Clearcoat.

The Color Breakdown

Acura really leaned into the "luxury" part of their name, recording a massive 52 colors for the TL over the years. They gave us everything from the sophisticated Nighthawk Black Pearl to the surprisingly bold Root Beer Metallic. Whether your car is dressed in the crisp Taffeta White or the deep Dark Emerald Pearl, it's clear the designers weren't afraid to experiment with depth. They definitely went for it-making sure your driveway looked like a high-end jewelry box.

What to Watch For

Before you get started, head to the driver's side door jamb. You'll find a sticker there with your paint code-usually a mix of letters and numbers like NH-643M. If your TL is a 3rd or 4th generation model, keep a close eye on the roof and the trunk lid. These cars are known for "sun-sensitive" clear coats that like to flake off after a few years in the driveway. You might also notice small rock chips on the hood; Acura paint is famously "soft," which means it takes a hit for you, but leaves a little scar behind.

Driveway Repair Tip

Since so many TL colors are "Pearls" or "Metallics," those little bottles are packed with tiny flakes that like to settle at the bottom. Before you touch the car, shake your touch-up bottle or pen for a full 60 seconds-and I mean really shake it-to wake up those sparkles. When you apply the paint, think of it like nail polish: two or three paper-thin layers are much better than one big, gloopy drop. If you're working on a pearl color, it requires patience, but waiting five minutes between those thin layers will give you the best depth and a match you can be proud of.
