How to Find Your Acura RDX's Color Code

Acura paint color codes are always on the drivers door jamb. Many Acuras and Hondas have a factory code which makes a difference in the color. Typical format: NH-583M, which corresponds to NH-583M Vogue Silver Metallic Clearcoat. Acura uses the same color across models but different names, so the color code is important to order the correct paint; names can vary like Silver Clearcoat or Light Silver Clearcoat.

The Color Breakdown

Acura has rolled out a staggering 41 colors for the RDX over the years, and they definitely didn't shy away from the dramatics. While they certainly leaned into the "50 shades of grey" trend with a library of silvers like Lunar Silver Metallic and Solar Silver, they also threw us some absolute curveballs. From the electric Apex Blue Pearl to the head-turning Thermal Orange Tricoat, they really went for it. Whether you're driving a classic Nighthawk Black Pearl or a vibrant Basque Red, you're handling a finish that was designed to look premium-even if it's currently sporting a few battle scars from the highway.

What to Watch For

Before you pop that cap, you need to find your "recipe." Open your driver's side door and look at the jamb (the B-pillar frame); you'll see a sticker with a barcode. Your code will likely start with NH, B, or R (like NH-830M). Now, for the honest truth: Acura paint is known for being a bit "soft," which means your front hood is probably a magnet for rock chips. If you have one of the white pearl options, keep a close eye on the roof edges and the area around the tailgate, as those spots are known to occasionally flake or peel. If you see a tiny bubble or a chip there, catching it early with a touch-up pen is the best way to keep it from spreading.

Driveway Repair Tip

Because so many RDX colors are "Pearls" or "Tricoats," they have a lot of personality-and personality requires patience. Those tiny metallic flakes like to settle at the bottom of the bottle, so shake your touch-up pen or bottle for a full 60 seconds (longer than you think!) to wake up the sparkles. When you're filling a chip, don't try to fill the whole crater in one go. Think of it like painting your nails: do one thin layer, let it dry for 15-20 minutes, and then come back for a second pass. This prevents a "blob" and helps the new paint sit flush with the rest of your beautiful RDX.
