How to Find Your Acura Legend's Color Code

Acura paint color codes are always on the drivers door jamb. Many Acuras and Hondas have a factory code which makes a difference in the color. Typical format: NH-583M, which corresponds to NH-583M Vogue Silver Metallic Clearcoat. Acura uses the same color across models but different names, so the color code is important to order the correct paint; names can vary like Silver Clearcoat or Light Silver Clearcoat.

The Color Breakdown

Acura really leaned into the "Executive Class" vibe for the Legend, recording a massive 55 colors over its lifespan. They didn't just give us white and silver; they gave us a world where Taffeta White, Greek White, and Olympia White all lived together in the same neighborhood. Whether your car is dressed in the deep Milano Red or the sophisticated Florence Blue Metallic, it's clear the designers wanted these cars to look like they belonged in front of a 1990s high-rise. They really went for it with the names, too-because why settle for gray when you could have Gothic Gray Metallic?

What to Watch For

If you own a Legend, you likely know its one true kryptonite: the sun. These cars were built during an era when clear coats were still finding their footing, and it's very common to see "cloudy" spots or peeling on the roof, hood, and trunk. Before you start your repair, you'll need your specific paint code. You can find it on a sticker located on the driver's side door jamb. Keep an eye out for a code starting with NH or R (like NH-509 or R-81). Be careful with the red and green shades like Canterberry Green-they tend to get a little tired after decades in the driveway, so the color may look slightly deeper in your bottle than it does on your faded fender.

Driveway Repair Tip

Since so many Legend colors are Pearls or Metallics (looking at you, Starlight Black Pearl), the "magic" is all in the bottle's heavy lifting. Those tiny metallic flakes like to settle at the bottom of the touch-up bottle like lead weights. Shake your paint for a full two minutes-long after you think you're done-to ensure those sparkles actually make it onto the car. When applying, don't try to fill a deep chip in one go. Drip a tiny amount into the center of the chip and let it spread itself out. If you're working with a Tri-coat like Sirius White, remember that thin, light layers are your best friend; the color builds its character with every pass, so take your time.
