How to Find Your 2001 Acura's Color Code

Acura paint color codes are always on the drivers door jamb. Many Acuras and Hondas have a factory code which makes a difference in the color. Typical format: NH-583M, which corresponds to NH-583M Vogue Silver Metallic Clearcoat. Acura uses the same color across models but different names, so the color code is important to order the correct paint; names can vary like Silver Clearcoat or Light Silver Clearcoat.

2001 Acura Background Info

The 2001 Acura Vibe

Welcome to the peak of the "Silver Era." In 2001, if you weren't driving a Satin Silver Metallic TL or a Silver Stone Metallic NSX, you were probably staring at one in the rearview mirror of your Integra. Acura was hitting its stride, moving away from the boxy 90s into the sleek, high-tech aesthetic of the new millennium. With 11 distinct colors in our vault-ranging from the deep Nighthawk Black Pearl to the high-society White Diamond Pearl Tri-coat-it was a time when "premium" meant depth, flake, and enough clear coat to make a mirror jealous. It was the era of the first-gen MDX and the swan song of the legendary DC2, and the paint was designed to look expensive while doing 80 on the turnpike.

Paint Health Check

The bad news? You're living in the heart of "The Peeling Era." While the Japanese factory finish looked like glass in the showroom, the clear coats from this period have a nasty habit of "sunburning." If you've got a Milano Red or San Marino Red Acura, you know the struggle-without a garage, that vibrant red eventually wants to retire into a chalky shade of pink. But the real enemy here is delamination. Once the UV rays bridge the gap between your basecoat and clear coat, it starts to lift in flakes that look like a bad sunburn on the roof and trunk. If you see those white, cloudy patches starting to form on your Berlina Black hood, the clock is ticking.

Restoration Tip

In this era, your clear coat is your only shield, and once it's breached, the basecoat underneath is defenseless. Seal your chips immediately. On these 2001 models, a small rock chip isn't just an eyesore; it's an entry point for moisture to get under the clear coat and start the peeling process. If you catch a chip on your Taffeta White or Premium White Pearl, don't wait for the weekend. Clean the area and dab on a repair layer to lock that clear coat down. It's much easier to fix a tiny dot today than it is to respray an entire "leopard-spotted" roof next year.
