Your Paint Color Profile

41G - Pulse Red

The Look

Your Yaris or Yaris iA carries a bit of a secret identity, and this color is the giveaway. Inherited from a collaboration with Mazda, this isn't the flat, rental-car red you see on most commuters. It is a high-energy, spirited shade that gave these subcompacts a premium feel during their run from 2017 to 2023. Because it was the primary color used in many launch campaigns, it has become the definitive look for this generation of Toyota's small-car lineup.

Technical Details

This is a metallic finish, which means it relies on tiny mica flakes to catch the light and create depth. Metallics are excellent for hiding small surface dust, but they require a steady hand during a repair. If you apply the paint too heavily in one spot, those flakes will settle unevenly and create dark, blotchy patches known as mottling. Since your car has likely seen a few years of road use, the original finish might be slightly weathered, so using light layers is the best way to help the new paint blend into the old.

Best Practices

Before you spray or dab Toyota Pulse Red (check for code 41G), you need to shake the container for at least sixty seconds to ensure the metallic particles are fully suspended. You can find this code on the black or silver manufacturer sticker inside your driver's side door jamb, typically listed next to the letters "C/TR." When you are ready to work in your garage or a patch of shade, test the color on the included card to get a feel for the flow and consistency. Keep your layers thin and allow for plenty of drying time between applications to prevent the paint from sagging or trapping the metallic flakes in a dark clump.

ensuring the right match

How to Find Your Toyota's Color Code

On all Toyota models, the color ID plate is on the drivers door jamb. It shows the letters C/TR and then the paint code. Example: C/TR 3P1 FA09. The color code is 3P1; FA09 is not part of the color code and is an interior option code. For example, 3P1 is Impulse Red Metallic Clearcoat; names may vary like Red Metallic Clearcoat or Wine Metallic Clearcoat. The color code can also be obtained from a dealer using the VIN.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
