Your Paint Color Profile

8V2 - Medium Blue

The Look

Your Camry comes from an era where Toyota began leaning into more sophisticated, European-inspired tones. This color isn't a loud, bright blue or a dark, heavy navy; it sits comfortably in the middle, offering a professional and composed appearance that holds its own against the endless sea of silver and beige. Since your car has likely been braving the elements since 2009, the original finish might have slightly shifted due to UV exposure, so your repair is as much about blending into the history of the car as it is about covering a scratch.

Technical Details

This finish is a metallic, which means it contains tiny flakes designed to catch the light and provide depth. The challenge with metallic paint is that these particles are heavy and love to settle at the bottom of the container. If you apply it too thickly or unevenly, the flakes will clump together and create dark, blotchy spots known as mottling. To keep the finish uniform, you need to focus on thin, light layers rather than trying to achieve full coverage in a single pass.

Best Practices

You can confirm your color match by checking the identification sticker on the driver's side door pillar for the "C/TR" line. Before you spray or dab Toyota Medium Blue (check for code 8V2), you need to shake it for 60 seconds to ensure the metallic flakes are fully suspended. Always test the color on the included card first to see how the flakes lay down before moving to the actual repair. Whether you are using a nozzle or a brush, keep the container moving and work in a cool garage or the shade to ensure the drying time remains consistent and the metal particles have a chance to level out properly.

ensuring the right match

How to Find Your Toyota's Color Code

On all Toyota models, the color ID plate is on the drivers door jamb. It shows the letters C/TR and then the paint code. Example: C/TR 3P1 FA09. The color code is 3P1; FA09 is not part of the color code and is an interior option code. For example, 3P1 is Impulse Red Metallic Clearcoat; names may vary like Red Metallic Clearcoat or Wine Metallic Clearcoat. The color code can also be obtained from a dealer using the VIN.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
