Your Paint Color Profile

ZV3 - Laser Blue Pearl Tricoat

The Look

Your 2007 XL-7 is a bit of a survivor, and this specific shade is the reason it still captures the light. Since your Suzuki has been on the road for nearly two decades, you have likely noticed how this blue transitions from a deep, moody indigo in the garage to a bright, electric sapphire in the sun. This was a one-year-only premium color that signaled Suzuki's move into a more upscale era. It provides a level of depth that most SUVs from that period simply cannot match.

Technical Details

This is a three-stage finish, which means it has more in common with high-end luxury paint than a standard economy coat. You are working with a sandwich of color: a solid base, a translucent pearl mid-layer, and a final clear protection. The risk here is a phenomenon called piling. Because the pearl layer is transparent, the more you apply, the darker the spot becomes. If you are too heavy-handed with the pearl, your touch-up will end up looking like a dark bruise against the rest of the door. You want the light to pass through the pearl and bounce off the blue base, not get trapped in a thick layer of mica.

Best Practices

You can usually find your paint information on the firewall under the hood or on the service sticker inside your glove box. Before you spray or dab Suzuki Laser Blue Pearl Tricoat (check for code ZV3), you need to shake it for 60 seconds to wake up the pearl particles. Test the color on the included card first to see how many passes of the pearl mid-coat it takes to reach the right depth. Keep the container moving to ensure an even flow, and give the paint plenty of drying time between each thin layer to prevent the colors from bleeding together into a muddy mess.

How to Find Your Suzuki's Color Code

On Suzuki vehicles, paint color codes may be well hidden, and some vehicles have no code at all. Suzuki can be contacted to determine where the code is, locate hidden codes, or verify paint formulas. When a code is missing, the PPG paint formula number or the Dupont paint formula number can replace the color code.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
