Your Paint Color Profile

WA569F-W - Sterling Silver (matt/wheel)

The Look

This specific silver helped define the transition from the rounded Grand Am of the early 2000s to the sharper, more aggressive G6 and the final generation of the Grand Prix. It is not a flashy, mirror-like chrome; instead, it is a sophisticated, industrial metallic designed to make your alloy wheels look like structural aluminum. It provides a grounded contrast to the body paint, giving the car a more expensive, German-inspired aesthetic. Because your wheels live near the hot rotors and face a constant barrage of road debris, this finish is built to be rugged, but the matte texture means it will eventually lose its crispness if it is not refreshed.

Technical Details

This is a metallic finish, which means it contains actual silver flakes suspended in the paint. These flakes are heavy and love to sink to the bottom of the container. If you do not mix the paint thoroughly, you will end up applying a muddy grey streak rather than a brilliant metallic finish. The matte aspect of the paint is excellent for hiding the inevitable accumulation of brake dust, but it is also more porous than a high-gloss finish. This means you should be extra careful to clean the surface of any road oils or tire shine overspray, or the new paint will struggle to grip the wheel.

Best Practices

You will usually find your paint code on the Service Parts Identification sticker located inside your glove box or under the trunk lid in the spare tire well. Before you spray or dab Pontiac Sterling Silver (matt/wheel) (check for code WA569F-W), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. This is a critical step to ensure the metallic flakes are evenly distributed so the color matches your other wheels. Always test the color on the included card before you touch the car to ensure the shade has not been altered by years of sun exposure. Work in your garage or the shade to keep the metal from getting too hot, and apply the paint in thin, even layers. Keep the container moving as you work to prevent the metallic particles from clumping, which ensures the light reflects off the wheels exactly as the factory intended.

ensuring the right match

Find your Pontiac paint code

Pontiac placed paint code labels in many spots across years, so they can be hard to locate. Common locations include the glove box or the spare tire well; beyond that, placement can be anywhere. Codes appear like 51/WA316N, often shown as BC/CC 51 or BC/CC 316N, and may include U or L for two tone (U316N, L316N). Example names tied to codes include Slate Gray Metallic Clearcoat, Gold Mist Metallic Clearcoat, Gold Clearcoat, Inca Metallic Clearcoat.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
