Your Paint Color Profile

C50 - Chestnut Metallic

The Look

This earthy, bronze-leaning brown was a short-lived choice for the Nissan Quest during the mid-2000s. It reflects the design trends of that era, moving away from the bland grays of the nineties toward a warmer, more organic palette. Since your Quest has likely been on the road for over fifteen years, the original finish has weathered its fair share of grocery runs and family trips. This color hides road grime well, but because it relies on deep brown tones, any deep scratches tend to stand out against the metallic base.

Technical Details

This is a true metallic finish, which means it contains tiny flakes designed to catch the light. These particles are what give the paint its depth, but they also make the repair a bit more technical. If you apply the paint too heavily in one spot, the metallic flakes will sink and bunch together, creating dark, blotchy patches called mottling. To avoid this, you should focus on building the color through several thin layers rather than trying to cover the damage in one go.

Best Practices

You can find your identification plate on the driver's side door jamb, which will confirm your color match. Before you dab or spray Nissan Chestnut Metallic (check for code C50), you must shake the container for at least sixty seconds to wake up those heavy metallic flakes. Test the color on the included card to see how the flakes settle before touching the car. Work in the garage or the shade to ensure the metal surface isn't hot to the touch. Keep the container moving at a steady pace and allow plenty of drying time between layers to ensure the finish remains even and the flakes stay suspended.

How to Find Your Nissan's Color Code

Nissan paint color codes are on the driver's door jamb. Some labels are low on the jamb and require bending to read. The color label may be small. Codes are typically three characters long using letters and numbers; sometimes a space and a fourth character follow. The same code can have different marketing names across models. AX6 corresponds to Redline Clearcoat; AX6 may also be called Red Clearcoat or High Performance Clearcoat. Nissan North America phone number is 1-800-647-7261.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
