Your Paint Color Profile

28A - Sherbet Green Metallic

The Look

This color is a pure time capsule from the mid-2000s when Mazda decided to have some fun with the palette for the Mazda3 and Mazda6. It is a bright, optimistic shade that sits somewhere between a lime and a lemon, giving your car a personality that modern grayscale traffic lacks. Since your car has been braving the elements for nearly twenty years, the original finish might have shifted slightly toward a lighter hue. This is a playful color, but it shows every bit of road grime, so a clean surface is your first priority before you begin.

Technical Details

You are working with a metallic finish, which means there are tiny flakes suspended in the paint to catch the light. These flakes are what give the car its shimmer, but they can be temperamental. If you apply the paint too heavily in one spot, those flakes will bunch up and create dark, muddy patches known as mottling. Because this is a lighter metallic, consistency is everything. You want the flakes to lay down evenly so the repair reflects light the same way the rest of the door or hood does.

Best Practices

To find your official confirmation, open the driver's side door and look at the sticker on the door jamb or the center pillar. Before you apply a drop of Mazda Sherbet Green Metallic (code 28A), you must shake the container for at least a full minute to get those metallic flakes off the bottom. Test the color on the included card to ensure it matches your current level of paint fade. When you start, keep the container moving to avoid heavy buildup. It is much better to apply three thin, light layers than one thick one. Give it plenty of drying time between coats in your garage so the next layer doesn't melt the one beneath it.

How to Find Your Mazda's Color Code

Mazda Color Codes are usually found on the Color ID Tag in the driver-side door jamb or door frame. The tag may label the Color Code as BODY Color Code or Color Code; on some models and years it is instead on an under-hood label on the firewall, at the back of the engine area near the windshield. Mazda Color Codes are usually 2 to 3 characters, such as 41V, 46G, 46V, or A4A.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
