Your Paint Color Profile

BQ/M6904 - Light Parchment Gold Metallic

The Look

This color is the defining signature of the early 2000s Lincoln era. If you drive a first-generation Navigator or a Town Car from this period, you likely recognize this champagne-hued gold as the gold standard for American luxury. It is a forgiving color that masks road grime and dust well, which is why it remained a top choice for several years. Since your Lincoln has been on the road for two decades, the original finish might have shifted due to sun exposure, making a careful touch-up essential for a clean look.

Technical Details

This is a metallic finish, which means the paint is packed with tiny reflective flakes that give it that classic Lincoln shimmer. Metallics require a steady hand because the flakes need to lay flat to reflect light. If you apply the paint too thick or too fast, the flakes can bunch up and create dark, cloudy patches known as mottling. Before you spray or dab Lincoln Light Parchment Gold Metallic (check for code BQ/M6904), you need to shake the container for at least a full minute to ensure those flakes are distributed.

Best Practices

You will find your color code on the driver's side door jamb sticker, usually listed next to the "EXT PNT" label. To get the best results, work in a cool garage or the shade rather than in direct sunlight, as heat can mess with the drying time. Test the color on the included card to confirm the match before you touch the car. When applying, keep the container moving in smooth strokes. If you are using a pen, use light dabs rather than long streaks. Let each layer dry before adding another to build up the color.

ensuring the right match

How to Find Your Lincoln's Color Code

Lincoln color codes are always on the drivers door jamb. On the color plate, EX PT (for Exterior Paint) appears, with the paint code located above or below; sometimes the actual color is embossed on the plate and not where expected. Typical format: WT/M6640, though M6640 is rarely shown and typically only WT appears. WT corresponds to Performance White Clearcoat. Pre 1970 Lincolns can be problematic due to same names with different codes.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
