Your Paint Color Profile

K73 - Silver

The Look

Since your LS Series has spent over two decades on the road, its finish has likely faced plenty of highway miles. This specific silver was the hallmark of the turn-of-the-century Lexus flagship, providing a look that was more about quiet confidence than flashiness. It is a refined, light-toned finish that defines the executive era of the early 2000s.

Technical Details

This is a metallic finish. Because the paint relies on tiny aluminum flakes to catch the light, it is prone to looking uneven if those flakes settle or bunch up. If you notice dark or light streaks, it means the metallic particles are not laying flat. You need to ensure the paint is mixed well so the flakes stay suspended and provide that consistent shimmer. Silver is forgiving with dirt, but it is very demanding during application because of how the light hits those metallic flakes.

Best Practices

Open the driver's door and look for the sticker on the pillar; your code is listed next to the C/TR label. Before you apply Lexus Silver (check for code K73), shake the container for at least a full minute to get those metallic flakes moving. Test the color on the included card to confirm the match against your car's current state. Whether you use a Nozzle or a Brush, keep the container moving to prevent the paint from pooling. Let each layer have enough drying time before adding more, as thin layers yield a better result than one thick coat. Move the car into the Shade or a Garage to keep the surface cool while you work.

How to Find Your Lexus's Color Code

Lexus, manufactured by Toyota, shares many color codes. On all models, a color ID plate on the driver’s door jamb shows C/TR followed by the paint code. Example: C/TR 3P1 FA09, where 3P1 is the color code; FA09 is an interior option code. The same paint can have different names across models (e.g., 3P1: Impulse Red Metallic Clearcoat, also Red Metallic Clearcoat or Wine Metallic Clearcoat). Dealers can provide the color code via VIN.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
