Your Paint Color Profile

LRC965/JRJ - Biarritz Blue Metallic

The Look

Biarritz Blue is a rare gem from the mid-nineties. It served as a flagship shade for both the Discovery and the Range Rover during a decade when Land Rover was transitioning from pure utility to high-end luxury. It is a deep, sophisticated navy that feels appropriate for a rugged expedition or a night in the city. Since your vehicle has been on the road since 1995, the original finish might have aged slightly, but this deep blue remains one of the most respected colors from that era of British design.

Technical Details

This is a metallic finish, meaning it relies on tiny flakes to reflect light and create depth. These flakes are heavier than the paint itself and tend to sink to the bottom of the container very quickly. If you do not keep the mixture uniform, you might experience mottling. This creates dark, uneven blotches or stripes where the metallic particles have clumped together. Maintaining a consistent rhythm is the only way to ensure the sparkle looks uniform across the repair area.

Best Practices

You can usually find your paint code on the radiator support bar under the hood or on the driver side door pillar. Before you apply Land-Rover Biarritz Blue Metallic (check for code LRC965/JRJ), you must shake the container for at least two full minutes to properly distribute the metallic flakes. Test the color on the included card to ensure the shade matches your current paint. When you begin, keep the container moving in steady passes to avoid heavy buildup in one spot. Allow for ample drying time between each thin layer to prevent the flakes from shifting as the paint sets.

Find your Land-Rover paint code

Later model Land Rovers have paint codes on the drivers door jamb. Older models usually have them under the front hood on the radiator support. Codes may appear as short alphanumeric strings like LRC961 or HAF; both can refer to the same color on one vehicle. Example: LRC961 HAF corresponds to Epsom Green Clearcoat. Labels may show either LRC961 or HAF. On older cars, locations include both the drivers door jamb and the radiator support.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
