The Look

This is the adventure shade for the modern Sportage. Since your vehicle is a newer model, the factory finish is still fresh, which makes your repair a lot simpler than if you were dealing with years of sun damage and fading. It is a bold, energetic color that defines the rugged X-Line trims, sitting somewhere between a deep burnt copper and a vibrant safety orange. This color looks its best under direct sunlight where the depth of the finish can really show its face.

Technical Details

You are working with a Pearl Metallic finish. This means there are tiny flakes of metal and pearlescent pigment suspended in the paint. If you just open the container and start working, you will likely end up with a flat, muddy orange that does not match. Those flakes are heavy and sink to the bottom quickly. If they bunch up in one spot, you get dark patches; if they are too thin, the color looks weak. Before you spray or dab Kia Orange Fusion (check for code RNG), you need to shake the container for at least two full minutes to get those flakes back into the mix.

Best Practices

You will find your paint code on a black sticker located inside the driver's side door jamb. When you are ready to start, move your car into a cool garage or a patch of shade. Hot metal will cause the paint to dry before it can level out properly. Test the color on the included card to make sure the flake density looks right. Whether you are using a pen or a can, keep the container moving and apply the paint in thin, light layers. If you apply it too thick in one pass, the metallic flakes will pool together and settle into dark stripes. Give it plenty of drying time between layers to keep the finish crisp.

Same Color Code, Different Name: Kia, like all manufacturers, uses the exact same color across many models and then will have a different color name for each model. This is why the color code is so important to order the correct paint. For example, B3, above we call Mica Blue Metallic Clearcoat. It could also be called Blue Clearcoat, Light Mist Clearcoat, etc.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can.
