Your Paint Color Profile

P1 - Blue Sapphire Metallic

The Look

Your Sedona has likely spent the last two decades hauling families and gear, which means its deep blue coat has earned a few battle scars. This color served as a staple for the early 2000s Kia lineup, providing a sophisticated look for a van that was built for utility. Since your car has been on the road for a while, the original finish has probably weathered some sun and road salt. A fresh touch-up will help restore the depth that made this dark blue a popular choice when it first hit the lot.

Technical Details

This is a metallic finish, which means it relies on tiny flakes to catch the light and create a shimmering effect. Metallic paints are known to be picky because those flakes can clump together if the paint goes on too heavy. If the flakes do not lay down in a uniform pattern, you will see dark spots or stripes in the finish. You can prevent this by focusing on light, thin layers to ensure the metal particles stay suspended evenly across the repair area.

Best Practices

Before you spray or dab Kia Blue Sapphire Metallic (check for code P1), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. You can find your paint code on the label affixed to the driver side door jamb, usually near the lower portion of the pillar. Once the paint is mixed, you must test the color on the included card to ensure the shade matches your current finish. When you start the repair, keep the container moving to prevent the metallic flakes from pooling in one spot. Always work in a garage or the shade so the drying time remains even and the paint does not set too quickly.

ensuring the right match

How to Find Your Kia's Color Code

Kia codes are easy to find as they are always on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: B3. Example mapping: B3 Mica Blue Metallic Clearcoat. Same Color Code, Different Name: Kia, like all manufacturers, uses the exact same color across many models and then will have a different color name for each model. This is why the color code is so important to order the correct paint. For example, B3, above we call Mica Blue Metallic Clearcoat. It could also be called Blue Clearcoat, Light Mist Clearcoat, etc.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
