Your Paint Color Profile

818 - Pale Blue Metallic

The Look

This shade is a time capsule from 1987, capturing the airy and optimistic aesthetic that defined the era. It is a soft, sky-leaning blue that gives the Isuzu I-Mark a sophisticated edge and makes the Truck look surprisingly refined for a workhorse. Since your vehicle has been on the road for decades, this color often acts as a bridge between a vintage utility look and a clean, preserved classic. It is a light enough blue that it avoids looking heavy or dated, provided the metallic shimmer is preserved.

Technical Details

This is a true metallic finish, which means the liquid is packed with tiny aluminum flakes that catch the light. These flakes are heavy and love to sink to the bottom of the container, so if you do not mix it thoroughly, the color will come out looking like a flat, dark greyish-blue instead of the bright sky tone you expect. Because your Isuzu is an older model, the original paint has likely drifted slightly from its factory shade due to UV exposure. This makes thin layers even more important so you can build the color gradually to match the aged panels in your garage or shade.

Best Practices

You will usually find your identification plate under the hood on the firewall or the radiator support. Before you spray or dab Isuzu Pale Blue Metallic (check for code 818), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. This is the only way to get those metallic flakes back into the mix. Test the color on the included card before touching the car to ensure the shade is right. When applying, keep the container moving to prevent the metallics from pooling into dark, splotchy clusters. Give each layer enough drying time so the finish stays crisp and the blue remains bright.

How to Find Your Isuzu's Color Code

Isuzu can be contacted to determine the color code. If there is no color code, the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number may be requested. Common places to look are on the drivers door jamb, the trunk and under the hood.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
