Your Paint Color Profile

701G - Black

The Look

This color represents the final chapter of a flagship era. Since your Q45 has likely been on the road since 2006, it carries a level of executive presence that modern cars often struggle to match. Unlike the more common metallic shades of that period, this shade is pure and authoritative. It does not rely on sparkles to get attention. Instead, it offers a deep, ink-like depth that acts as a mirror for the world around it. Before you spray or dab Infiniti Black (check for code 701G), you need to shake it for 60 seconds.

Technical Details

This is a solid finish, which means it contains no metallic flakes or pearl additives. While this makes it simpler to match the color itself, it is less forgiving than other paints during application. Without metallic particles to scatter light, every tiny scratch or ripple in your repair will be visible. Solid black is the ultimate test of your surface preparation. The trade-off is that you get a finish with much more visual weight and a darker tone than you would find in a metallic variant.

Best Practices

Locate your paint code on the driver's side door jamb or on the firewall inside the engine compartment. Because this color is so dark, the secret to a professional result is the environment. Work in a shaded garage to keep the body panels cool to the touch. Test the color on the included card to ensure the shade matches your current paint. When applying the color, keep the container moving to avoid heavy spots that might sag. Patience is your ally here, so give the paint plenty of drying time between your light coats before finishing with your clearcoat.

ensuring the right match

How to Find Your Infiniti's Color Code

Infiniti paint color codes are always on the drivers door jamb; some require getting pretty low on the drivers door jamb to read, but the code is easy to read. Typical format: AX6. AX6 corresponds to Redline Clearcoat. Same Color Code, Different Name: Infiniti uses the exact same color across many models with different names, so the color code is important. For example, AX6 above we call Redline Clearcoat; it could also be called Red Clearcoat, High Performance Clearcoat, etc.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
