Your Paint Color Profile

PA8/PA - Orange

The Look

The 2015 Sonata usually populates parking lots in a sea of silver and white, so your choice of this vibrant shade stands out. It carries the factory name Urban Sunset, and it captures the warmth of a late afternoon sky. Since your car has been on the road for about a decade, the finish has faced plenty of sun. This color was a short-lived option that gave the Sonata a much-needed punch of personality, making your vehicle a rare sight compared to the standard fleet models.

Technical Details

This is a metallic finish, meaning the paint contains tiny flakes designed to reflect light and create depth. These flakes are what give the surface its glow, but they require a steady hand. If you pile the paint on too thick in one spot, the metallic particles can cluster together. This creates dark patches or a blotchy look that ruins the illusion of a factory finish. Success with this color depends on thin layers that allow the flakes to lay flat and catch the light in a uniform way.

Best Practices

Open your driver's door and look for the manufacturing sticker on the jamb to find your information. Before you spray or dab Hyundai Orange (check for code PA8/PA), you need to shake the container for at least sixty seconds. This step is a requirement because the metallic flakes settle at the bottom. Test the color on the included card to confirm the match before you touch the car. When you begin the repair, keep the container moving to ensure the flakes distribute without clumping. If you are working in your garage, use a bright light to monitor the progress of the finish. Give each layer enough drying time to ensure the paint sets hard and stays bright.

Find your Hyundai paint code

Hyundai paint codes are normally on the drivers door jamb; some models hide the color code in the engine compartment. Typical format: 3E which corresponds to: Blue Onyx Metallic Clearcoat. Some later Hyundais use a three character code. A paint can be S3; this is actually the same as S3B. Same color code, different name: the same paint may be used across models, e.g., 3E as Blue Onyx Metallic Clearcoat, Blue Clearcoat, or Ocean Blue Clearcoat.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
