Your Paint Color Profile

P6W - Chalk White

The Look

This isn't the creamy, soft white found on older sedans. This shade is a sharp, modern neutral that Hyundai used to define the launch of the Kona and the aggressive lines of the Veloster. It was designed to pop against black plastic cladding and dark trim wheels. Because your car has likely spent a few years on the road, you probably notice that this color is a magnet for road tar and iron spots. It is a high-contrast finish that looks crisp when clean but shows every bit of neglect.

Technical Details

This is a Solid finish. You won't find any metallic flakes or pearl dust here to hide behind. While that makes it easier to match than a complex tri-coat, it also means your technique has to be clean. With a solid color, you don't have to worry about the paint looking striped or mottled, but you do have to worry about the thickness. If you apply it too heavily in one spot, the repair will sit higher than the factory finish and cast a tiny shadow.

Best Practices

Before you spray or dab Hyundai Chalk White (check for code P6W), you need to shake it for at least 60 seconds to ensure the pigments are fully integrated. You can verify your code on the manufacturing sticker located on the driver's side center pillar or the door jamb. Always test the color on the included card before touching your car to see how it looks against your aged factory paint. When you are ready to apply, work in your garage or the shade to keep the metal cool. Keep the container moving at all times to avoid heavy build-up, and allow for plenty of drying time between your light layers.

How to Find Your Hyundai's Color Code

Hyundai paint codes are normally on the drivers door jamb; some models hide the color code in the engine compartment. Typical format: 3E which corresponds to: Blue Onyx Metallic Clearcoat. Some later Hyundais use a three character code. A paint can be S3; this is actually the same as S3B. Same color code, different name: the same paint may be used across models, e.g., 3E as Blue Onyx Metallic Clearcoat, Blue Clearcoat, or Ocean Blue Clearcoat.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
