Your Paint Color Profile

NH-575M - Medium Gray

The Look

This shade represents the peak of 1990s functional design. While your Civic was built to be a reliable commuter, this specific gray gave it a more sophisticated, industrial edge compared to the brighter reds and blues of the era. It is a workhorse color that hides road grime well, but after decades of sun exposure, the finish on your car has likely shifted slightly from its original factory tone. Because this color was only featured for a single year, it carries a certain level of rarity that makes preserving it worthwhile.

Technical Details

Since this is a metallic finish, you are dealing with tiny aluminum flakes suspended in the paint. These flakes reflect light to give the surface its depth, but they are also picky about how they land. If you apply the paint too heavily in one spot, those flakes will bunch up and create dark patches or streaks. To get a uniform look that matches the rest of your door or hood, you need to ensure those metallics lay down evenly. Before you spray or dab Honda Medium Gray (check for code NH-575M), you need to shake the container for at least sixty seconds to get those flakes off the bottom.

Best Practices

You will find your paint code printed on a white sticker located inside the driver's side door jamb. Once you have confirmed the match, always test the color on the included card to see how the metallic flakes settle before you touch the car. If you are working on a vertical surface, keep the container moving to prevent the paint from sagging. Apply thin layers rather than one thick coat; this allows the color to build up naturally and keeps the metallic particles from shifting while the drying time passes.

How to Find Your Honda's Color Code

Honda Color Codes are usually found on the Color ID Tag in the driver-side door jamb. It is typically a rectangular label, and the Color Code is usually 2 letters plus 3 digits with a suffix letter, such as NH731P, B92P, YR525M, or NH603P-1. Some Hondas also require the Factory Code for the closest match; check the Color ID Tag for a suffix like -1, -3, -4, or -15, or use the 11th digit of the VIN visible through the windshield on the driver-side dashboard.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
