Technical Details

This is a metallic finish. Metallic paints rely on small flakes to reflect light and create depth. These flakes are heavier than the paint liquid and tend to sink. If the flakes do not stay in suspension, the color will look dull or even gray. You might notice dark spots or stripes if the application is too heavy. This happens because the metal particles bunch together instead of spreading out. Since your car is a recent model, the factory finish is still very bright. Matching that factory glow requires a thin, even layer of flakes.

Best Practices

Locate the identification sticker on the driver's side door jamb to confirm your color. Before you spray or dab Genesis Iceland Blue (check for code NEB), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. Do not skip this step, or the metal flakes will stay at the bottom of the container. Test the color on the included card to check the flake density. Work in your garage or in the shade to avoid direct sun. Apply the paint in light, thin layers. This prevents the metal flakes from sinking or shifting. Keep the container moving to maintain a uniform finish. Give the surface plenty of drying time between coats to ensure the repair stays level with the rest of the panel.
